Article Abstract:
The temperature dependence of the adsorption-desorption isotherm of nitrogen was measured onto MCM-48 and SBA-16 materials, respectively, with well-defined three-dimensional networks of cylindrical pores and cagelike pores, over a wide temperature range of 0.43 to 0.90. The results for MCM-48 strongly suggest that interconnections among pores of almost the same size and geometry do not have significant effect on the adsorption hysteresis and pore criticality.

A study is conducted on adsorption and structural properties of inverse carbon replicas of two ordered siliceous, P6mm and Ia3d mesostructures by nitrogen absorption, powder X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Results show that KIT-6 silica exhibiting 3D bicontinuous network of large channels with interconnecting micropores constitute an excellent template for preparing its faithful inverse replica.

Article Abstract:
The mercury porosimetry experiments are integrated with gas sorption to detect the existence of pore blocking effects during the desorption of nitrogen from a mesoporous sol-gel silica material at 77K. The theory of pore blocking in combination with percolation theory are used to develop various methods of analysis for gas sorption data for the structural characterization of porous media.
