Article Abstract:
Molecular simulations were used to investigate the interaction between the anticancer drug anthramycin and the DNA dodecanucleotide. The simulation results show that in the noncovalent complexes the electric field due to DNA polarizes the hydroxy and the anhydro form of the drug as to favor a nucleophilic attack by the alkylating guanine suggesting that the binding process may be characterized by a multistep pathway, catalyzed by the electric filed of DNA.

Article Abstract:
The annealing characteristics of electrons and holes trapped in crystalline oligofeoxynucleotides irradiated at 4 K and annealed stepwise to room temperature is presented. It was found that in a number of DNA crystals, the free radical species and radical yields are very similar to crystals irradiated at room temperature compared to those irradiated at 4K followed by annealing to room temperature.

Article Abstract:
DNA oligomers deposited on Cu(111) surfaces at liquid nitrogen temperature using a scanning tunneling microscope is observed. Bright spots aligned in a row along a single-stranded DNA with the same periodicity as that of the nucleotide unit in a highly resolved image of rhe 20mer nucleotide units demonstrating that each bright spot is a nucleotide is observed.
