Accurate single molecule FRET efficiency determination for surface immobilized DNA using maximum likelihood calculated lifetimes

Article Abstract:

The scanning confocal microscopy is used to obtain various maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) to calculate lifetimes that are used to determine the accurate single molecular fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) efficiency for surface immobilized DNA. The analysis proves that the fluorescent lifetimes extracted using an MLE is very much dependant on the background fluorescence, as well as the instrument response.

Energy and charge transfer dynamic in fully decorated benzyl ether dendrimers and their disubstituted analogues

Article Abstract:

The three different families of molecules are designed, synthesized and studied to evaluate how the dendrimer architecture affects the size scaling of the electronic energy transfer (EET) and charge transfer (CT) dynamics in benzyl ether macromolecules. It is found that the nature of the branching and the number of peripheral donor chromophores has little effect on the EET time scales with size.

Mechanisms for fluorescence depolarization in dendrimers

Article Abstract:

A study of the fluorescence properties of dendrimers (GN is the dendrimer generation number) comprising of four varying luminophores , terphenyl (T), dansyl(D), stilbenyl(S) and eosin (E) is presented. The various mechanisms of fluorescence depolarization observed in the analysis, depending on the photophysical properties of the fluorescent units and structures of the dendrimers, are discussed.
