SSM Health care, St. Louis, Missouri, became the first health care organization in May 2002 to win the coveted Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for performance excellence and quality achievement. The transformation is based on the commitment to continuous improvement and the adoption of a new spirit of leadership, which believes that every SSM employee has the capacity to lead.
