Temporal variation in the luminance level of stimuli displayed on a cathode-ray tube monitor: Effects on performance on a visual vigilance task

Article Abstract:

The possibility that vigilance decrement may be modulated by temporal luminance fluctuations of the monitor screen was investigated. The results suggest that a severe control of the luminance levels of stimuli displayed on a cathode-ray tube (CRT) monitor screen is required to prevent temporal variations in luminance.
