Active US investors tend to have poorer returns than less active investors, according to research to appear in the US Journal of Finance for the five-year period to early 1997. Differences in returns could become more important as online trading and day trading become more important. British execution-only brokers note that UK investors tend to become less cautious when they invest online. Investors can quadruple their activity when they go online, according to one broker.
