The Designation and Removal of Trustee Stock Status: Wealth Effects

Article Abstract:

A permanent and positive wealth effect was found for trustee stocks driven by designation announcement. However, shareholders' wealth was found to be adversely affected when trustee stocks lost their status, but this seems to be temporary. These findings can be partially explained by regulatory structure differences.
