Stylo is acquiring shoe stores from the administrators of Facia and is also acquiring 119 Hush Puppies stores from Sears. Stylo should be able to reduce costs through these acquisitions. The Hush Puppies acquisition is to be partlu funded by the issue of limited voting securities. Stylo has a split voting share structure and does not wish to change this although this format has been abandoned by some companies. The structure is a deterrent to investors.

Someone loves Marks & Spencer

Many analysts remain gloomy about the outlook for UK retailer Marks & Spencer (M&S), despite M&S's efforts to restructure and refocus. However, this view is not shared by fund manager Brandes Investment Partners, which has a strong track record and which has built up a 10% stake in M&S.

Muddling is only middling

Article Abstract:

The UK's Carphone Warehouse is an example of how investment decisions can be harder with young firms and investment becomes even more of a gamble. Mobile phone retailer Carphone has promise but its shares look risky just now.
