Windows are the most useful and economical software for accounting professionals. Windows software enable accountants to incorporate their accounting system with the database of their firms. Stiff competition in the industry has led manufacturers to continually develop innovative accounting software products. For example, Computer Assoc Canada Ltd willlaunch the MasterPiece for Windows which will enable accountants to transfer accounting information to all computer platforms.

Great expectations
Article Abstract:
The microcomputer industry moved in many directions in 1992. The software segment saw tough competition between operating systems, as Microsoft Corp released Windows 3.1 and IBM introduced OS/2 version 2.2. With the exception of these new releases, the software arena produced disappointing products, such as the Window-based Lotus 1-2-3 and Wordperfect. The hardware segment, meanwhile, was rocked by Compaq's price reductions and product releases.

Small companies that cannot afford elaborate information systems can improve their management techniques to better utilize information. Possible improvements include: use of CD-ROMs and an organized large disk drive for permanent storage, installation of a software package for text retrieval, and selection of an appropriate and comprehensive executive information package that can locate and use information from a variety of databases.
