Article Abstract:
SSL is the result of three companies coming together, Seton Healthcare and Scholl, which have merged, and London International, which was then absorbed. The new company has 400 product lines and merger costs have been higher than forecast. Plants producing condoms in Italy are to be shut down, with production being concentrated in Thailand, which has half the level of production costs of western countries. Surgical golves are being produced in Malaysia. Durex has increased its US market share following a relaunch of the brand. The company's growth prospects appear good, and costs are being reduced as a result of the mergers.
