Retail sales for anti-aging products expected to reach $4.3 billion by 2003

Retail sales of anti-aging products are predicted to increase to $4.3 billion in 2003, as shown by a study released by New York, NY-based Kaolorama Information. Two contributing factors associated with this increase are the aging of the baby boomer generation and a significant rise of new products on the markets. Based on the study, drugstores have a share of about 29% of sales in the cosmeceutical market, followed by department stores and mass merchandisers at 26% and 24%, respectively.

Women's fragrance purchasing habits

Article Abstract:

Young consumers and minority women are driving the sales of fragrance in an otherwise flat market, according to a survey conducted by Marco International of New York. Traditional distribution channels such as upscale stores and bargain department stores are losing share to specialty stores, cable TV and the Internet. Specialty stores, in particular, have seen their share double from 17% to 16% in the past two years.

SOLAR F/X displays sun-activated nail lacquer

Solar F/X has launched a line of nail color which changes hues when struck by sunlight. The ordinary nail polish transforms into the modish color of the season when the wearer goes out in the sun. Company president Marc Beckman said the product is targeted to teens and young adults who want their look to change with the season. The product launch is being supported by traffic-stopping in-store displays.
