Putting people at the centre
Article Abstract:
An experiment was made on Scarborough, Ontario-based Warden Woods to study the risks and opportunities in an organization, stimulate its members and sustain its success. After the exercise, it was concluded that the non-profit organization could maintain its mission accomplishments if the people at the center will continue to focus on the group's intentions and if the issues they face will still be addressed. Success is also dependent on the enactment of recommendations ranging from the creation of clear decision-making procedures to the development of emergency response system.

CoCo in the crucible
Article Abstract:
The scientific approach in management is based on the notion that the organization is a machine, with employees who are intrinsically dishonest and treacherous. The humanistic approach, in contrast to the scientific one, considers the organization as a social organism and people as hardworking and committed to their work. The CoCo model of control, which based on the humanistic approach, is being applied by managers in South Africa in recognition of the need for an effective solution for a nation in transition with a long history of violence and political tension.

Loyal opposition
Article Abstract:
Organizations need to have effective leadership, governance and management to perform with efficacy. Leadership is about creating a vision and informing others of the planned direction, and management's role is implementing the vision and putting the strategy into motion. Governance is protecting the business from leadership becoming too successful.
