Czech Republic: The Ministry for the Environment plans to fix a special quota on PET. According to the quota, firms would have to recycle 50% of all PET bottles by 2005 and maybe nearly 80% by 2008. Eko-Kom (Prague, Czech Republic), involved in the salvage, sorting and recycling of waste, estimates that every third sold PET bottle is processed by recycling in the Czech Republic. PET bottles represent about 5% of all packaging on the Czech market. Eko-Kom associates more than 400 firms which produce or import nearly 40% of all packaging and about 3,200 municipalities with about 6.2 mil inhabitants. Eko-Kom is a non-profitable organization which contributes to the salvage, sorting and recycling of waste. The firm receives finances from the contributions of firms, the fee is about 0.1% of product prices.

Besides, JM has arranged a contract on milk supplies with the sales cooperative Jih (Czech Republic). The step has broken the project of the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure one milk supplier, Mlecoop (Czech Republic), a republic-wide cooperative.
