Northrop Grumman Corporation has successfully completed the flight testing of the Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) system. BACN is an Internet protocol-based communications relay and information server that links radios and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems for the US Department of Defense networks and provides warfighters an advanced way to share critical information by communicating over airborne networks at high altitudes.

Lockheed Martin Corp. delivered the Airborne Laser (ABL) Flight Turret Assembly (FTA) to Edwards Air Force Base, California, for integration into the anti-ballistic missile aircraft. The FTA comprises the flight turret ball, containing a 1.5-meter telescope beam director and the conformal window, and its lightweight composite roll shell structure that covers and protects the optics when they are not in use.

The Army and industry officials announced that the Army is planning to merge two contractorsE competing efforts on a new integrated communications network, namely, the $12 billion Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T). This network is planned to benefit the Future Combat Systems (FCS) program and give the soldiers needed new technology faster.
