Article Abstract:
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has a 20-person regulatory action division, charged with investigations and enforcement, which would enable them to make checks for compliance and those failing to register under the 1998 Data Protection Act. The ICO is now actively looking for firms that are breaking the law, and it has already started its crackdown on the 3,000 or so legal firms that have not registered as data controllers.
