When video games were first introduced, the rules of the games were simple and the hardest part was figuring out how to control the joystick and get the best score in the time allotted. With the ability to "continue" a game now, although it means more money for the manufacturer or the game owner, it takes some of the fun away from trying to get the best score before time runs out.

The success of online tournaments, including touchscreen games, is altering the perception of the coin-operated amusement industry. The author expects large telecommunications companies to take notice of this success and eventually find ways to profit from it by incorporating such games into their other offerings.
