In spite of the strong growth in its food sector, Italy's food and drink industry has not been successful in playing on a global or even pan-European stage. Eridiana Beghin Say and Parmalat rank 16th and 17th in market capitalization, and David Campari-Milano fell 3% on opening day of its debut on the the main excahnge of the Milan Bourse.
