Improving the security of financial management systems: what are we to do?

Article Abstract:

The financial management system now encompasses collection of information and dissemination thereof almost simultaneously. In addition the role is expanded to include strategic insights, cost effective measures, etc., that would put the enterprise ahead of the others. In order to achieve these objectives, it is imperative that the enterprise considers usage of latest technology such as electronic commerce facilities and Internet. However, these facilities are prone to certain security drawbacks, which have to be addressed. The methods of tackling the safety problems related to such systems are discussed.

Measuring corporate environmental performance

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine corporate environmental performance using theoretical and empirical methods. The study was carried out to support extend accountants' domain in creating environmental performance metrics. A model was utilized to categorize a range of publicly available environmental performance indicators into internal systems. Results indicated the need for specific environmental performance standards to support reliable and consistent data for comparing firms and supporting important decisions.

Vulnerability and information security investment: an empirical analysis of e-local government in Japan

A study based on the data of e-local governments in Japan shows that the enterprises willing to expend on information security are the enterprises that are vulnerable to substantial loss due to the security problems related to their information.
