Article Abstract:

ICL PLC is developing two new software packages in response to local government authorities' need for a solution to council tax systems implementation. A VME Council Tax package similar to ICL's COMCIS tax preparation software is being developed by ICL user groups and the ICL in-house development team. Meanwhile, a UNIX package is being developed jointly with INGRES's independent systems house EASAMS. ICL is also offering a Council Tax VME New User Implementation Service to train users and supervisory staff.

A banker's eye view of treasury management

Article Abstract:

The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy has endorsed the formation of a new company, INTEGER, to provide treasury management advisory service. INTEGER's four executive directors come from the banking, corporate, stockbroking and local government sectors. Peter Haring represents banking. His career and his views about the role of local authorities in treasury management are discussed.
