Disruptiveness of innovations: Measurement and an assessment of reliability and validity

Article Abstract:

Disruptive innovations are a powerful means for broadening and developing new markets and providing new functionality which in turn disrupt existing market linkages and disruptiveness of innovations is distinct from the radicalness or the competency-destroying dimensions of innovations. There are significantly more disruptive and radical innovations in technology and telecommunication industries relative to consumer non-durables except in the pharmaceuticals industry.

An analysis is presented of data from a study comparing Planning School and Learning School practices in business strategic planning. Topics include methods used to gather data and conclusions on the finding that environmental factors do not affect the preference for one style over the other.
