The annual meeting of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) held early-2004 offered members the chance to restate the case for the introduction of the highest quality International Accounting Standards in 2005. European commissioner Fritz Bolkestein expressed his views on the schedule for adoption of International Accounting Standards as well as measures to safeguard auditor independence and the proposed new Transparency Directive.

Boards needs more chartered accountants

Article Abstract:

The new Combined Code at the launch of the new Independent Directors Register designed as an online service to unite chartered accountants to become non-executive directors with those companies seeking new board members is described. This creates an opportunity to maintain quality experience and financial literacy of those new recruits, to enable them develop into board positions.
