Theme International Holdings Ltd., a Hong Kong-based clothing manufacturer and retailer, is an international conglomerate with 230 retail stores worldwide. Theme International recently created a strategic partnership with China Everbright Group, whose China Everbright-ID Pacific Ltd. subsidiary now has a 20% ownership stake in Theme International. Theme International believes the alliance with China Everbright will give it major marketing opportunities in mainland China.

The Beximco Group, Bangladesh's largest conglomerate, has moved over the past 20 years from the nationalized import/export market to the private sector. It has 10 listed companies as of 1997, which make up almost 20% of the Dhaka Stock Exchange's capitalization. The Group's industries include textiles, computer distribution, pharmaceuticals and newspaper publication.
