The company could be affected by the election of the Labor Party to government if a new government changes labor law.The company's operations in mainland Europe are performing well, reporting a profit for 4th qtr 1995 and 1st qtr 1996 following losses for the first three qtrs of 1995. The company's profit for 1996 is forecast at 5.5 million pounds sterling by Collins Stewart, an upward revision from 4.5 million pounds.

A new lease on life

Penna has reached an agreement which will reduce the company's property costs by 395,000 pounds sterling annually. This will allow Penna to carry out small acquisition and foster its existing activities. The company's pre-tax profit is forecast at 1.4 million pounds sterling for 1996 to 1997 by Wise Speke. Large tax charges affected Penna's income in 1995 and 1996 but the tax is set to drop in 1997. The company's shares are recommended for investors in Jul 1996.

Corporate gets blue

The temporary recruitment business in the UK of Blue Arrow has been acquired by Corporate Services. Blue Arrow focuses on white collar staff and those in the catering trade, while Corporate specialises in manufacturing, healthcare and technical staff. There will be 200,000 staff on the books of the new company. Some branches may be closed, which will bring cost savings estimated at 1.5 million pounds sterling for 1996, and additional sums in later years.
