Most analysts think that the US Fed funds interest rate will rise to 4.75% on March 28, 2006, but recent US statistics are ambiguous, and there are significant minorities that question the consensus. The inflationist fear that US rates would have to raise well above 5%, while the deflationists believe that US rates have peaked already at 4.5% and may start to come down before too long, besides, sharp US dollar falls could trigger a hard landing.

China, however, was more successful than India and has transformed the global landscape but India's performance has improved in recent years and now it is fast catching up with China and experts are predicting a long bright future for Indian economy.

The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee's decision to cut the interest rates in August 2005 was widely expected. It was needed in the wake of the sharp fall in the UK's GDP growth in the first half of 2005. It was also needed due to decreases in consumer spending and manufacturing and a rise in unemployment in the UK.
