Cider giant turns to cream of the crop

Article Abstract:

Bristol based drinks company, Matthew Clark, has announced that it is to launch a new product into the very competitive cream liqueur market. The new product is to be called Stone's Cream Liqueur and will be a blend of Stone's Ginger Wine and fresh dairy cream. The product is to have an ABV of 17% and a recommended retail price of GB 11.49. Matthew Clark is to launch the product in September 1998 in order to take advantage of the peak November/December period when around 50% of all cream liqueur sales go through the multiple grocery sector. Some GB 1mn is to be invested by the company in the launch of the product, which will include newspaper and magazine adverts and a 500,000 strong sampling campaign. Demand for cream liqueurs is growing at around 9% per year. The current brand leader is Baileys whose share has increased by 11% compared to 1997, and is now worth GB 35mn.

Landlord set to go nationwide

Article Abstract:

Timothy Taylor, the West Yorkshire, UK based brewer has announced that it has joined forces with drinks distribution group, Tavern Group, to launch its Landlord cask conditioned ale in bottles across the whole of the UK. Bottles of Landlord are currently only available in northern and midland areas of the UK, but within the next few months it is hoped that the product will be available nationally.
