Changes to the 1997 UFE Syllabus

Article Abstract:

The provincial institutes of chartered accountants in Canada and Bermuda have approved for release the Syllabus for Entry to the Chartered Accountancy Profession, Issued 1996, Effective for the 1997 Uniform Final Examination. The institutes' Syllabus Subcommittee developed the 1997 Syllabus by establishing several focus groups consisting of students and educators. The focus groups were able to identify concerns about the relevance and user-friendliness of the Syllabus.

Article Abstract:

The collapse of the Soviet Union has made the Russian republic a very unstable business environment. Although signs of a capitalistic market is evident, Western traders are careful about investing in the former USSR republic. Accountants are having a hard time adjusting to changing Russian legislation laws. Russian accountants are beginning to adopt Western practices in an attempt to speed up the development of capitalism in Russia.

Chartered accountants (CAs) can provide invaluable services to small- and medium-sized Canadian companies planning to enter the export arena. CAs can help companies in their search for export markets and their selection of distribution channels. CAs also provide advise on financing issues such as obtaining government insurance on exports, credit lines, foreign exchange and export-related taxation.
