Johannesburg, South Africa-based newspaper publication 'Beeld' publishes a highly popular and successful section called 'Tegno-Beeld.' The response from advertisers and readers to the section was so overwhelming that the newspaper opted to transform Tegno-Beeld into a separate, technology tabloid supplement. The supplement, which first appeared on Sep 19, 1998, is issued on the last Tuesday of each month. It has expanded to an eight- to 12-page tabloid and reaches 410,000 readers each month. Newspaper officials are seriously considering publishing Tegno-Beeld on a bi-monthly basis.

The California-based Orange County Register newspaper desires to be a key information provider for the comunity that it serves. It is with this goal in mind that the newspaper created its new OCR Magazines division in Jan 2000. The concept of OCR is to launch as well as acquire a portfolio of targeted consumer magazines for the Orange County, CA, and southern California markets. This would allow the newspaper to reach new readers and advertisers, thus ultimately extending its reach.
