Baumax raises its turnover by one fifth

Baumax CR (Prague, Czech Republic), retailer, expects its turnover to increase to CEK 5 bil in 2001. The firm increased its turnover by 21% to CEK 4.5 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. Baumax CR has 18 centres in the Czech Republic. The firm is aiming to increase their number to 25-30. It has a total of about 1,250 employees. The firm is focused mainly on the sales of do-it-yourself and gardening supplies. It is a subsidiary of Baumax (Austria).

Lazne Podebrady raises revenues

Lazne Podebrady (LP) (Podebrady, Czech Republic), spa treatment company, raised its revenues to CEK 181.6 mil in 2000, up 5.8% from 1999. The company generated an after-tax profit of CEK 12.5 mil in 2000 compared to CEK 8.2 mil in 1999. On 13 Apr 2001 LP's general assembly decided to use CEK 6.9 mil from the 2000 for dividend and CEK 81,150 for directors fees.

Sintex raises proceeds 21%

Sintex (Ceska Trebova, Czech Republic), knitting firm, saw proceeds of nearly CEK 245 mil in 2000, 21% more compared to 1999. Its net profit amounted to nearly CEK 9.9 mil in 2000, 93% more compared to 1999. The firm will use the majority of the 2000 profit for investments and the financing of its further development.
