At first FCS demo, Harvey issues budget warning

Article Abstract:

Future Combat System (FCS) modernization program began with Army publicly demonstrating multiple new technologies and the event also included a briefing and demonstration of the Non-Line-Of-Sight Launch System (NLOS-LS). Secretary of Army Francis Harvey and Army Chief of Staff Gen. Peter Schoomaker took the opportunity to warn lawmakers against cutting the FCS budget, which is estimated to cost more than $25 billion in the near term and about $125 billion over 20 years.

Bell Helicopter Inc., the subsidiary of Textron Inc. has a long term plan and intends to be the major provider of vertical-lift unmanned aerial vehicles to the Army.

Bolton: Army aviation faces deadlines; JTRS to be restructured

The demise of the RAH-66 Comanche reconnaissance/attack helicopter program has freed nearly US$ 15 billion that will be spent on various Army aviation priorities as part of the Army's aviation modernization program. The Pentagon is also restructuring its next-generation radio program, the Joint Tactical Radio Systems (JTRS), which would enable different types of radios to communicate freely.
