Alltel Corp

Alltel Corp proved several analysts wrong when it posted a record-setting price of 47 3/4. The growth for the first nine months of 1992 was largely due to Alltel's cellular telephone and information services segments. Earnings for the cellular telephone segment doubled in response to a 75% revenue hike. Projection for 1992 and 1993 were pegged at $2.50 a share and $2.80 a share, respectively. Alltel Dir William Johnson doubled his stake by acquiring 4,000 shares at 44 7/8 last Oct 26, 1992. The company pays a $1.60-cent dividend on its 88 million shares.

C-Tec Corp posted $2.1 million in profit for the Sep 1992 quarter, thus, ending its 12-quarter losing streak. The stock increased by $1.50 for the trading week ended Nov 6, 1992. The telecommunications holding firm attributed the quarter gains to satisfactory developments in their three main service divisions. The stock also responded well to the repurchase authorization of up to one million shares given last Oct 22, 1992. The firm does not pay any dividend on the 16.5 million shares.

The company also posted a 211% earnings hike for the Sep 1992 quarter which translated to about $11.7 million. Grubman also emphasized that ALC has started to increase its market share and a 60-cent net per share is projected for 1992. The firm does not pay dividends on the 17.3 million common shares.
