The Structured Development for Real-Time Systems design technique developed by Stephen J. Mellor and Paul T. Ward is used to analyse the tools and techniques employed for the development of software for creating a train driving simulator. The design technique focuses on issues such as engineer productivity, design verification and validation, design consistency and design visibility, while the technique also incorporates several advantages such as having a well-defined syntax, being graphic-based and offering support tools.

United Airlines Inc. and Boeing Co. managed to successfully launch the new 777 airplane in 1990 despite more than 70 years of failed communications between them. This was achieved through a mutually agreed-upon deal called 'Working Together' where Boeing and United Airlines agreed to mutual objectives in building a 'great airplane.' The experience highlights some insights that provide new directions to good supplier-customer relationships.
