Some views of Joseph Coffey in his article entitled 'A Plea for Economic Research to Improve Market Efficiency' invite comment. Coffey is correct in his contention that agricultural economists should come up with methods that will objectively, accurately and efficiently measure the qualities and values of commodities. Through this, the agricultural market can be aptly evaluated if it is operating efficiently.

Universities and agricultural biotechnology patent production
Article Abstract:
Research investigating the production of agricultural biotechnology patents by universities is presented. A methodology for comprehending the university patent production process is developed. Using a series of explanatory variables, econometric count data models of agricultural biotechnology patents owned by universities are estimated.
