Article Abstract:
There are three suggested secrets which companies could use to motivate their sales forces. One, an imaginative, creative travel program will linger in winning employees' memories than a traditional banquet. Past winners of such travel programs will be more receptive to future incentive offers in the belief that these will be as worthwhile as the previous programs. Two, existing technology provides companies with ways to provide winners greater choices when using merchandise awards, that go considerably beyond what traditional catalog programs have to offer. Three, cash is an effective motivator in the short term but does not sustain significant long term growth when it is merely added as a bonus to employees' paychecks.
