Article Abstract:

Mid-2004 saw a hiatus in Britain's economy recovery and reasons for the downturn are examined. Adverse global developments, upsurge in oil prices were partly responsible and it is feared that worsening public finances may lead to tax rises.

Global uncertainties deepen

Article Abstract:

The global economic recovery and the growth were strong in 2004 since 2000, which created excessive optimism and undue enthusiasm in the financial markets. The fears of new recession would slow down the global growth in 2005.
