In the form, they should indicate the number and value of the shares they intend to sell, the proposed sale date and the name of their brokers. Companies where insiders have filed form 144 to signify their intention to sell include Advent Software Inc., Bank of Boston Corp. and Forte Software Inc.

Industries are ranked according to whether their insiders have been buying or selling shares. The higher the ranking, the higher the volume of shares insiders are buying. Those industries where insider trading is negligible get a ranking of 1 and negative 1. On the other hand, industries where insider have been disposing of their shares are given negative rankings ranging from -2 to -25.

Some executives of ValuJet Inc. have announced their 144 intention to sell their shares following a two point increase in the company's stocks. The FAA's order allowing the firm to continue operations had caused the sudden price increase. A total of 1,910,000 shares will be sold by Vice Chairman Maurice Gallagher, founder Timothy Flynn, Officer Michael D. Acks and VP Stephen Nevin.
