The fraud case against Michael Rigas, the former operations chief of Adelphia Communications, ended in a mistrial on July 9, 2004 after the jury was deadlocked on 17 counts against him. Rigas was acquitted of conspiracy and wire fraud charges a day earlier, while his father and brother were convicted of conspiracy, bank fraud and securities fraud.

Hal J. Shaffer, ex-president of a Cherry Hill-based Internet bank, InterState Net Bank is accused of having received stock which the bank valued at about $1 million. The bank sued Shaffer in New Jersey Superior Court in Camden demanding that he return certificates for the shares and reimburses the bank for unspecified personal expenses.
