Article Abstract:

Approximately 300 industrial designers met in Philadelphia recently to address an age-old problem; how to foster creativity and innovation and stay ahead of competitors. They are also addressing the issue of creativity itself, and the fact that new products often necessitate the collaboration of radically different groups and sjignificant changes in corporate cultures. One of the speakers, Arnold Wassermann, design director of the Idea Factory, spoke of the need to respect creative people and to realize that innovation is much more than invention.
