'95 hiring decision may hurt Eisner

Article Abstract:

Michael D. Eisner, CEO of Walt Disney Co. hired his old friend Michael Ovitz in 1995 as president, but in 2005 a court case involving Ovitz's brief tenure is stimulating a campaign to remove Eisner and other members of the Walt Disney Co. board. A judge in the Delaware Court of Chancery unsealed some documents in a Disney shareholder case against Eisner, Ovitz and the other Disney board members at the time of the hiring and $40 million termination of Ovitz.

Disney dissidents assert Comcast bid's not answer

Article Abstract:

Disney dissidents Roy E. Disney and Stanley P. Gold in a four page letter to Walt Disney Co. shareholders stated on 20 February 2004 that Comcast Corporation's take over bid was 'clearly not the answer' to the Burbank, Calif., company woes. The letter indicated that Disney needs a new senior management team not a new owner.

Article Abstract:

A lawsuit filed by dissatisfied shareholders of Walt Disney forced its chief executive officer Michael Eisner to remove Michael Ovitz from the post of the president. The suit is expected to reveal some of the lethal dealings at Disney during one of its difficult periods.
