Autodesk's second annual survey of issues and trends in the UK's design and new-product development company with the focus on building and construction is analyzed. It is suggested that Autodesk would serve itself better by addressing itself to some of the key areas highlighted by the survey such as affecting and managing successful culture change and attracting improved investment.

The latest introduction of their products by two superior competitors, Autodesk and Bentley in the AEC CAD field, show that changes to the former's AutoCAD 2004 are superficial, while the latter's MicroStation V8.1 has been comprehensively improved. Several new and powerful features of MicroStation are demonstrated at its launching ceremony, grandly entitled 'World Tour'.
