Zimbabwe launches second IPO

Article Abstract:

An initial public offering began in August 1997 of shares in Zimbabwe's Commercial Bank of Zimbabwe. Some 80% of stock is to be sold, raising around $43.7 million. Additionally, up to 80% of Cotton Company of Zimbabwe is scheduled to be offered in September 1997, with 10% set to be reserved for local cotton growers. The proceeds of some $41.6 million are to be divided between the government and the company.

Philippines seeks advisers for bank privatisation

Article Abstract:

The list of banks to advise the Philippines' Department of Finance on the the privatisation of the Philippine National Bank has shrunk to eight. These eight finalists are: ABN AMRO Bank, JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, ING Barings, Rothschild, Mercer and Lek/Alcar Consulting Group.
