Article Abstract:

US president, Bill Clinton, has support from political leaders world wide over the Starr report, and there is a need for US action on a number of international issues. Clinton focused on the domestic economy in his election campaign of 1992. The key international issues in 1998 are financial, and the US should offer solutions. Congress has to provide support for the US to be effective. This includes agreeing to pay US contributions to the United Nations. US enemies favor inaction, while friends of the US are concerned.

Article Abstract:

The move towards free trade in all of the Americas is likely to continue despite some disenchantment with NAFTA. Most nations pledged to work towards free markets by 2005. Latin America is developing economically and will eventually stand on an equal footing to the US and Canada.
