The study "Logistics in China" by McKinsey and Co. reports that infrastructural problems and strict licensing laws may undermine the benefits of China's upcoming membership in the World Trade Organization. Freight destined for domestic consumption in China is subject to damage and theft, expensive tolls, and late arrival.

Goldman Sachs and Co predicts that the confrontation between Iraq and the US will lead to higher oil prices in the international marketplace which will surely affect countries in Asia as well. Improvement in the South Korean economy will be undercut as the dollar rise in the price of oil barrels will knock 0.3 percentage point off its GDP growth. On the other hand, Malaysia's economic recovery efforts will receive a strong boost. Other Asian countries at the losing end would be India and the Philippines.
