Article Abstract:

Wang was an incendiary orator who first joined the Communist Party in the 1930s and quickly ascended its ranks. He was hailed as a hero in the Red Guard's quelling of an uprising in Wuhan in 1967. The party later accused Wang of causing upheaval in China and dismissed him as party propagandist.
