Germany's Veba and Viag say merger could be near

Article Abstract:

Utilities Veba AG and Viag AG have agreed on a basic framework to merge their companies and create the largest energy group in Germany. The merged company would have a market capitalization of Euro31.6 billion, and combined annual sales of E92 billion, based on figures for 1998.
