Holland has granted Olaf Schuiling and Jan Nieuwenhuis $550,000 to test their geochemical plan to raise the nation's coastline one meter to protect Holland from floods. They plan to inject unwanted sulfuric acid, an industrial by-product, into the chalk bed beneath the land.
