Unorthodox housing for university students

Article Abstract:

The new student accommodation building, designed by ECD for Linacre College, Oxford, was designed to match the main college building and surrounding architecture. Internally the building features non-rectilinear geometry, and the helical staircase features marble stairs and metal balustrading. The building incorporates study bedrooms, communal kitchens, and bathrooms, and students were consulted about how the rooms were fitted out. ST George's Church, Sheffield has been transformed into a lecture theatre and student accommodation, and features thick Gothic roof trusses and stained glass windows.
