The exchange rate of China's yaun dropped from eight to the dollar to 10 1!2 to the dollar after the government ended an artificial limit placed on the rate at currency swap markets. Businessmen and citizens were unhappy, but economists approved of the move towards a more realistic exchange rate.

China's economic policies need to be reevaluated and reformed because the central planning theory has not created a cohesive economy. Consideration should be given to linking industrial areas on the coast and promoting urbanization to create better economic development.
