Track stars

Article Abstract:

The Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 league table ranks 100 UK companies which had the most rapid turnover growth in the UK between 1993 and 1996. Each company in the league table named the factor it perceived as the reason for its rapid growth and six factors emerged as explanations, the most common being good products and good customer service. An analysis of six of the Fast Track companies, DX Communications, DR Simpson Chilled Foods, Software Warehouse, Hobgoblinns, MSB International, and Topps Tiles, examines one company from each of the six categories.

Altered image

Article Abstract:

Company directors have been poorly represented in the UK press, making them appear lazy, greedy and loathsome, whereas in reality the majority of the UK's 500,000 company directors work very long hours and take home extremely small pay packets. Directors' organisations are trying to alter their negative image by encouraging a greater degree of openness with the media, through the use of television and radio airtime. An initiative is also being planned to provide a framework within which directors can operate.
