Wheels and wires

Article Abstract:

US automobile factories are seeking to meet strong domestic demand, but there has been pressure on margins for a number of vehicles. Change has also come from usage of the Internet to allow companies to respond more rapidly to their customers' demands. There is pressure to consolidate, and this has led to interest in Daewoo and the motor division of Samsung. Overcapacity is one reason for consolidation, and the Internet has also had an impact by leading to more willingness of family members to sell stakes in family-owned car firms.
