Article Abstract:
The effect of results of marginal cost analysis on decisions concerning repair and maintenance by a firm is discussed. Historical, current and expected costs influence policies on repair or replacement. A state of chance and incomplete information is assumed in a model that extends the model developed by Cleroux, Dubuq and Tilquin. This assumption is considered better than one in which thorough knowledge of life distribution is presumed as the former is more realistic and attuned to long-term conditions.

Article Abstract:
Parametric linear programming algorithms were developed to solve special cased of the quadratic assignment problem. The algorithms were a result of the transformation of non-convex programs into parametric programs. The parameter search is hastened through the derivation of lower and upper bounds of the parameters. Numerical experiments prove the efficiency of the algorithms.

Article Abstract:
An alternative formulation for the rectangle packing problem is proposed along with two efficient algorithms which are applied to special cases. The O(n) and O(n squared) time algorithms can be adapted to derive other cost functions. The study has not established the complexity of the oriented aligned rectangle packing problem and recommends further study on the subject.
